Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters at Proxima Report.

This notice explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you read our articles, join as a member, or interact with advertising partners.

Effective date: March 2025

1. Information we collect

We collect information to deliver news, power member features, and maintain the security of our platform.

  • Account data. When you create a member account we store your name, email address, hashed password (managed by Ghost), and subscription plan.
  • Billing data. Subscriptions are processed by Stripe. We do not store complete payment card numbers on Proxima Report servers.
  • Usage data. We log page views, device/browser metadata, and basic analytics to improve performance and content relevance.
  • Advertising data. Google AdSense may collect contextual and interest-based signals in order to display relevant ads. See section 5 for details.
  • Cookies. Ghost and our analytics providers place first- and third-party cookies for authentication, preferences, and measurement.

2. How we use your information

  • Deliver articles, newsletters, and mission tools tailored to your membership tier.
  • Process payments and manage subscription renewal through Stripe.
  • Send account alerts, surveys, or feature updates you opt into.
  • Ensure security, detect fraud, and prevent abuse of comments or APIs.
  • Serve advertising (for free tiers) that helps fund reporting while respecting your preferences.

3. When we share information

We do not sell personal information. We only share data with:

  • Service providers that help operate Proxima Report—Stripe for payments, Google for analytics/ads, and trusted infrastructure hosts.
  • Legal or safety reasons if required to comply with law, enforce policies, or protect users.
  • With your consent when you request integrations (e.g., connecting a Discord account for member perks).

4. Data retention & security

Member data is retained while your subscription or free account remains active. You may request deletion at any time.

  • Authentication credentials are hashed and never stored in plain text.
  • Payment information is handled by Stripe in accordance with PCI-DSS requirements.
  • Access to admin tools is limited, requires multi-factor authentication, and is logged.

5. Google AdSense & personalized advertising

We use Google AdSense to display advertising to free and Basic members. Google may use cookies or local storage to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to the site.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to Proxima Report and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or AboutAds.info.
  • We honor Google’s EU User Consent Policy by presenting consent banners in applicable regions.
